Fragrance:

Be like sandalwood! Fragrance of Sandalwood is very distinctive. It retains its fragrance for decades. There is a saying, 'one who touch sandal will smell sandal', generally referring to selecting good friends. Sandalwood is also widely used in Ayurveda for its medical qualities, including in treatment for anxiety. It is widely used in Aromatherapy too. It is used for carving and making Incense sticks. Sandalwood is now part of various religious rituals and a culture of the world. Religions across the world use it and the celebrations and death smells sandalwood. It is used in alternative medicine to bring individual close to the divine. Sandalwood oil is also said to be used in fluroscence microscopy. It is widely used as an ingredient in many soaps, including Chandrika Sandal. When we say, 'Be like sandalwood', it is to possess high qualities, retain it for many years and remain useful for many.

'Chandrika Sandal enhances beauty and health, to give you total body care. Extracts from Sandalwood and pure Coconut Oil cleanse and refresh the body, while moisturising your skin. Keeping it soft, supple and gently perfumed with the goodness of nature.' says, the web site of the soap.

After being a fan of Chandrika Ayurvedic Soap, when I found the Chandrika Sandal soap, I thought of giving it a try. The soap carried too much of Sandal in it!! Even after a bath, the smell sticks to the body. I have tried other sandal soaps earlier but this one sticks more. Surely there is presence of genuine sandal in it. I liked it.

Coming from the brand Chandrika, I was however expecting an ayurvedic protection with the Sandal presence, but looks like while attempting to give too much of sandal quality it give away the Ayurvedic quality. So, it remains a normal Sandal soap.

I have my worries on how far the sticking of sandal to skin is good since wiki says, 'for its antimicrobial activity, it can be used to clear skin from blackheads and spots, but it must always be properly diluted with a carrier oil. Because of its strength, sandalwood oil should never be applied to the skin without being diluted in a carrier oil'. Here, the soap definitely is using a carrier oil but I am little skeptical about whether it is 'properly diluted'. Too much of anything is a poison, including Amruthu and it may be true for Sandal too.

I will say the product is good in appearance and gives an impression. Still, time has to test it for its perfection.

My rating 2.5 stars
