Story in the nutshell: -
Rohit and Chandni, meet each other, during a wedding in Delhi. Rohit is moved by the charm of this elegant lady and falls in love with her. Soon, their families come to know and both of them are engaged. After engagement, Rohit meet with an accident while showering flowers on Chandni from a helicopter. As a result, Rohit is paralyzed for life. Now, the mother and sister of Rohit, targets Chandni and held her responsible for the accident. Chandni tolerates all the insult inflicted upon her. But Rohit won’t take it and one fine day he asks Chandni to leave and humiliates her.
Chandni, heart-broken, leaves Delhi and moves to Bombay, hunting for a job. As it is destined, she comes in contact with Lalit, who is a widower. Lalit starts liking her and finally they are engaged, with the consent of their parents. Meanwhile, Rohit goes to Switzerland where he’s attended by a team of doctors, as a result of which, he gets rid of paralyses.
Just few days before Chandni and Lalit’s wedding, Rohit come into the scene. What will happen now? If Chandni has to make a choice whom she’ll choose, are the few questions that you have to find! So watchout!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Sri Devi: -
Sri Devi is the soul of the movie. She never looked as beautiful as in Chandni. She doesn’t play the character but live it. She looks amazing in her white “salwar kameez”. As everyone knows she excels in all spheres of acting, may it be romance, comedy, emotional scene, she does them all brilliantly. And this movie showcases her talent in this field.
She looks vulnerable throughout but latter half presents her as a lady of substance. Her dance steps are again beautiful and her classical dance leaves u half-dead.
If I think of Chandni, then the only face that comes in my mind is that of SRI DEVI. She’s the ‘hero’ of this movie.

Rishi Kapoor: -
Though the story was women oriented and there wasn’t much scope for the male characters but even then Rishi was able to leave a mark on the screen. Though even in this movie he’s not been able to come out of his chocolatty image.
Vinod Khanna: -
Vinod Khanna, leaves an impact on the audience. Actually, if I’ll say that instead of Rishi Vinod is the real hero of the movie the I won't be wrong. He played his part so well that audience empathizes with him. He, as a widower, has emoted the feelings fairly well. He makes you ponder over the fact that why this happened to him???
I think if Vinod Khanna wouln’t have left tinsel town at the epitome of his career then today he would have been at the place occupied by BIG B.

Other actors: -
Anupam Kher, who acted as suppressed husband, had hardly much to do in the movie. Sushma Seth, was a surprise. She’s the villain in the movie. Her character reminded me of Lalita Pawar. Waheeda Rehman was good, actually she didn’t get much space. Meeta Vashisth couldn’t have done her part better than she did. Juhi, in a song and few scenes, had hardly anything to display.
Music and Lyrics: -
Music is the soul of Yash Chopra’s movies and this movie is no exception. The classic music prepared by SHIV-HARI is really straight from the heart. ‘Mere hathon me’ is a dancing number and wedding song that leaves you twisting and turning. ‘mai sasural nahi’, is another shadi number that is traditional in approach. ‘tere mere hoton’ and ‘aa meri jaan’, are lovely numbers that arouses emotions and reminds of love and nothing else. ‘parvat se kali’, is nothing but pure feelings. ‘tu mujhe suna’, is another number where two friends are singing in praise of their dreamgirl, interesting but this song is not as memorable as the rest of the album. ’dilli shehar mein’, is another high beat number that manifests the feelings of a lover. The title song, leaves you with cheer face while the classical dance of SRI reminds you of the VAJYANTIMALA. The lyrics penned by the maestro Anand Bakshi, once again produced some of the best wordings.
Direction: -
What to say about the show-man, Yash Chopra. He presents simple things in such a way that they no more appear simple. He’s always entitled as the leader than the follower. And with his CHANDNI, he started the era of romance. CHANDNI, is not the movie of any actor nut the director. He knows to get best out of artists. He challenges, his skills and challenges the artists.
Few Facts: -
• When Yash Chopra planned for this movie, filmi pundits warned him as that was the time when, romantics were out of fashion. But Yash Ji, took the risk and movie marked the beginning of romantic era.
• After this movie, the white “salwar kurti” worn by Sri Devi was in great demand in the Indian Market. Even the sarees were in great demand.
• Sri Devi, never looked as stunning and sexy, as in this movie. Though she was wrapped in saree, one could feel the appeal.
Some mistakes: -
It seems that the lyricist didn’t know mathematics, though SRI was wearing 20 bangles in each hand, even then the song says-“mere hathon mein nau nau chudiyan hain”. Amazing, isn’t it.

This is not just an ordinary movie, it’s the collection of emotions in solitude. Beautiful movie with supers locales. A movie that will cherish you for life. Just watch and let the feelings pour.
