I picked up my Ikon Sxi from Cauvery in Sept 2003. The sales team was pretty competent and I have no complaint in that department. It’s the money churner by way of post-sales paid service

which is a rip off. Sure they offer free pick ups, but to the uninitiated... there is always a recovery which happens and that is built into the service rates. Anyway, all that not a problem, nothing in life is free. It’s the quality of their servicing that needs loads to be desired. I initially had belt noise from under the bonnet (I didnt know what noise it was initially). After multiple trips to Cauvery Ford, it was diagnosed as belt noise. The belt was replaced and all was good with the world. That is, until it reappeared. New mechanic this time, doing all kinds of readjustments to fix it, kept my car for 2 days and returned it to me saying it was fixed. And needless to say it was balooney, they did everything but fix the problem. So next time I called them up and asked them to visit me at my home and fix a new belt. Which they did and my problem was fixed. So, who’s the mechanic here? And these are the folks who are supposed to be trained by Ford. Nice.

Next big problem I had was a "whoosh whoosh" sound which seemed to come from the wheels as I drove. Cauvery folks initially refused to admit the problem and when they finally did, they claimed to have fixed it when actually they did nothing about it. So I lived with the "whoosh whoosh" for quite some time with the Cauvery engineers using my car for their next Ph.D. thesis.

Had other niggling problems over time. AC cooling not proper, wiper blades not right, hard steering, jarring noise in rear left door, steering alignment not right etc. etc. My luck changed when I was not able to get an appointment at Cauvery for servicing and I had to go to Metro.


Please note folks - ALL the problems I mentioned above were fixed at one shot. The service engineer called me up to run me through all the problems the car had and their causes. The "whoosh whoosh" was attributed to simple worn out bearings (cheap to fix). The other problems I listed above.... I hadnt even mentioned them to the guy who picked up the car, but they all appeared in the assessment they gave me, that’s way impressive. This is how I expect service guys to respond. They are supposed to take charge, identify problems and rectify them instead of refusing to admit them or fixing them. Cauvery came up a cropper in this regard. My car is good as new after 1 visit to Metro. Hope this isnt a flash in the pan and the quality of service is maintained. But for now... I’m staying clear of Cauvery Motors... thank you!


PS - I forgot to mention, Cauvery actually conned me when I was buying the car. I live in Airport Road, so Metro is much closer for me... however the Cauvery guys told me that the Metro service centre is far away someplace in Peenya so I’d lose money on fuel. Thats the reason I bought from them. Apparently that was a deliberate lie, Metro very much have their service centre on St. Marks road. What a gas!
