Today calculators come in various forms from simple basic Arithmetic functions, to more complex scientific calculators for Scientific and Accounting purpose. Functionality apart they also come in different
sizes, models and designs with Solar Calculators, Wristwatch mini Calcies to fancy talking calculators. Here I’m to review yet another (hopefully last) model of Casio Scientific Calculator.
To highlight few features it has all standard Arithmetic Operations like Addition, Subtraction. You can also do Fraction calculations including decimal points. Percentage calculation becomes as easy as it is with normal calcies. Permutation & Combination calculations like calculation factorials of a positive integer. Also nCm and nPm calculations can also be done with it. Different modes are available for these as I calculations. The Standard and default mode is decimal and degree mode. For statistical operations you can switch on to SD mode and perform operation like calculating mean, median, and Standard deviation. Also LR mode is for calculating linear regression.
It is not as expensive as Texas Instruments models. Comparatively lesser-known Orpat also has range of different Calculators with a sensible prize. Cost viz. it not one of the expensive 100w and successive versions of Casio. Prize should be approximately around 700 Rs. that’s not bad at all. You get so many features at so much less prize. It has a single standard memory to store up to 8 digits. The weight is around 150 grams. Also it does not have those extra integration and last answer functions.
The Display is two lines S.V.P.A.M., which has larger and more easily readable characters. S.V.P.A.M. stands for Super Visually Perfect Algebra method. These types of calculators let you input calculation formulas just as they are written like we do normally on papers. It lets you view expressions result at same time.
As the case with every model of Casio Calculator family the great aspect I like is the Power Consumption. The calculator has a long really long lasting built-in battery, which lasts for years. My friend during post graduation had this Calcy. He said the battery is still going strong. My conclusion is that the machine consumes least power for all operations. It also has a auto power off ability when not in use for 5 minutes, thus saving the power. Overall not the best model available around but should do well for average calculating needs.
Before start of the competition I never imagined myself writing on calculators, since there is a lot repetitive stuff and so many features to explain. I mean where do you stop. It’s not possible to explain over 200 functions. I’ve tried to list some common, important features useful in making decision for a potential buyer. Hope you find it useful.
