Casio has basically 3 families of Digital diaries. The latest being SF 3990 with 128 kb memory. SF, CSF and NX are three different series available with it. Casio SF 3900 is a not very recent but
relatively a new models of Casio, now we have fancy, hi-fi 7500 and 7900. Difference between 3900 and 3990 is very less. These latest breed of digital diaries compatible with computer having multi-lingual support good memories, large space for storing is sensational and are almost like a mini computer or a palm top so it would be inappropriate to call them digital diaries.

Memory of SF 3900 is 128 Kb. Pervious models are different in memory. For example 3600 has a 64 kb memory. 128 kb memory is any time big as far as storing telephone directory records is concerned. You can store a monstrous 3000+ records in the telephone directory. I don’t think it will make sense mentioning exact number since that you could get it on MS itself. But still for some it can store up to 3900 records. May be the model numbers reflects that only. I would say it’s more than enough since I’m not a famous personality or a celebrity with thousands of contacts. At the most I will have 100 contacts (I’m not being negative, I would certainly love becoming Sachin Tendulkar, but I know I need to work and train hard for that. I will try some other profession, how about being Einstein?).Perhaps later when I’ll be in a Research Institute I will need more memory.

Similar to SF 3600 Display is a simple 3 line LCD Display. A backlit facility is also provided for viewing in low or dim light conditions. Especially in evening or twilight conditions this facility is very useful. In low light we need to align the display in proper angle facing towards maximum light to view the data on display (just like moving radio in the air to get a better signal). A light gives a reading even better than bright light conditions. The reason could be the contrast between the color of the letters and numbers and the light.

More the backlit facility we use more is the battery consumption. Trust me this consumes battery a lot than you expect. Make sure that you use the light only in urgent conditions so as to save you from possible trouble of battery discharge and loss of all data since this has no backup facility. It is not compatible with PC or it can’t be connected to PC to take backup. So you heavily rely on battery. That’s why you should use the facility sparingly. When the battery is used up we can’t just remove it and put it back again because that would erase the contents in the memory and you will have to start from zero again. If there is no back taken then there will be no start from zero you will at and zero only. All you could in a situation like this is enter your own details or give your mighty brain a little stress and try to memorize all that you have left behind.

Coming to the feature part the Telephone Directory can store up to 3900 records. You can maintain 5000+ memo records. Also a conversion function for converting currencies and usual metric units is provided. Multi-lingual support for 6 languages including English, German, French, Italian, Portuguese and Spanish just makes it better. T last you can store 3100 Schedule records. So overall it’s an amazing piece of small machine with a big capability. No doubt it is worth your money.

Pros:
Many features, Multi-lingual support
Cons:
Incompatible, no entry for storing address
