Let me start off by saying that this really happened two days ago and I am writing this article to bring out the actual abilities of Capgemini – The so called contributors to the society….
For a middle-class person, getting a job is something which he/she will cherish for the rest of his/her life. It’s a dream achieved and the happiness that occurs is beyond justification. I am sure you quite agree with me on this, but sometimes dreams of a person are crushed by another person and it creates a helpless situation.
Well the same thing happened to me and the only difference was that the entity which was supposed to provide me with the job destroyed my hope of seeing myself as a SAP consultant.
All of us have heard a lot about Capgemini – Outsourcing, Technology and Consulting Services provider, one of the greatest French companies completely let me down on Saturday when I was supposed to be attending an interview at their office in Whitefield.
My name is Gautham and I live in Girinagar, the south side of Bangalore and as every other bangalorean I too have a dream of making it big in my career, I am a SAP consultant from the past 10 months and I am looking for a good opportunity to get ahead with my dream.
On Friday I got a mail from Lubna Farheen, an HR consultant from Capgemini stating that there is a job opening and there will be an interview scheduled on 14th of September. Firstly, I don’t see the JD and the requirements and secondly there is no phone number mentioned on the call letter. I waited for the call but never got one, I did not want lose out on the opportunity and hence decided to go for it on Saturday.
I woke up, had a fresh start and started my journey to Whitefield. On my way I prepared myself for the interview confidently, I revised my technical knowledge which I had thoroughly worked for in the previous night. The walk-in was till 2 and I had almost 3 hours, but unfortunately lost my way in the process of searching for the tech-park Prestige Shantiniketan (Capgemini in one of the buildings). I finally made it by 12.30 and hurried off to the ‘Crescent2’ building where the interview was taking place.
The atmosphere looked dull and not many people were present as it was a Saturday. I finally went to the Eighth floor to handover my resume. The HR was an arrogant guy waiting for me to fill the details gritting his teeth. Finally when I presented my resume to them I got a shocking reply from Lubna, the one who sent the mail. “He is not eligible for the interview as the minimum experience that we are looking here is 3 years.” I was taken aback! I definitely didn't drive for 60 kms to get rejected even before the interview could start.
I turned towards another HR who was with Lubna and said “This female is saying that I am not eligible for the interview, how can she judge me even before taking the interview? You need to have your databases checked upon before mailing people regarding job requirements. Your company is supposedly a consulting company, how can you miss such details?” she was in awe and helplessly took my resume and said that she would keep it for future reference. I walked out with a shattered dream and the frustration behind it is making me write this article.
Being one of the biggest Consulting Companies, Capgemini let a bad impression fall onto me and I would dare say that I will attend an interview there next time.
