We got this camera two years ago (in india), with a slight splash of water accidently in a theme park, the shutters are not opening properly and we gave it for service, after that also the problem persists.
Otherwise, i feel the camera is great especially taking photos in snow. My friends warned me that only professional photos will look good when taken in snow and not other photos, this concept was proved wrong by using the SCN - snow option. Those snaps taken in snow were exceptionally good. The drawbacks i feel are the bukly size for two AA batteries itself (some other versions of cannon have four batteries), speed of the shutter (there is a lag of 3 seconds), the prolonged press that needs to be maintained to take a snap, and the general speed of the camera after about 100 snaps or the camera speed becomes very slow, even if the batteries are fully charged it looks as if it is in the verge of getting over. i am able to take about 80-90 pictures with one set of charged batteries. There is also more chances of blurred photos when taken in night effect. Whatever is said, the picture quality is very very very very goood...even with the smallest picture size (postcard with normal tone) the pictures look really perfect, many of my friends are appreciating that particular aspect of the camera. It is user friendly only again, as i mentioned earlier the prolonged press is of concern. Overall, the camera is equivalent to a professional camera...
