This camera came with an 18-55mm EF lens at a cost of Rs.32000. The camera is lightweight, extremely fast startup (under .2 secs) and delivers brilliant pictures. Good contrast and colour, fast processing enables you to shoot sequential pictures even when in RAW mode.
I changed the memory card to a Sandisk 4GB CF card which ensured rapid-fire shots without having to wait for the data to be written to memory. An excellent buy for any amateur. I have also seen some pros use this camera with the more expensive L series lenses. Using an L series lens puts you straight into the league of the pros.
I feel the pro versions of Canon dSLR bodies are priced higher only for their durability. They come in heavier, but stronger, titanium bodies with long-life shutters etc. However, for an amateur, this camera body is the tops. The camera's built-in flash is not of much use except in an emergency, else I would suggest picking up a compatible Canon flash, if you do a lot of photography indoors and in poor light. The difference in results is worth the investment.
