i went to canara bank,hadapsar pune branch for opening an account with them since my company had the facility to disburse salary to this

bank.

As i entered the bank, it appeared dark,  only a couple of lights were on. I asked for an a/c opening form and I was asked about atleast 50 questions as though I am a terrorist opening an account. I was given a form atlast when I told that my salary will be deposited here.  I submitted an ID copy, address proof. I had nominated my wife for the a/c.  And they asked for my marriage cetrificate.  I submitted the same.  After all this they said they cannot open the a/c....... reason I need to have an introduction from some one who holds a/c with this branck.  I was new to the city and area and said I dont know anyone.  They said that there were many employees of the compnay I worked for who had a/c with this branch and said to get their sign.  I had joined this company 3 days earlier and how come I know the people there.  Further its a company with 3000+ employees.  I had no other way, stood at the gate asking if he/she worked for my company.  I stood for 3 hrs asking everyone to introduce me.  Mean while the staff saw me and enjoyed the tamasha.  No one came fwd to introduce me to the bank.   It was a disguesting experience.  I did this for 3 days, no one from the bank came to help me.  I told to myself that I will not even turn my face towards canara bank and went off.
Later I came to know that ICCI was another bank where my company deposited salary.  ICICI persons came to me, took information from me and handed over the a/c no, cheque book,ATM card, net banking details to me, all done in 2 min of time. I am now enjoying banking with them.
If I had banked with canara bank, god know what kind of treatment would I have recd later.
