CANADIAN CLUB is a Whisky that my Husband loves. It was first made in Walkerville, Ontario, Canada in 1858. Hiram Walker brewed this Whiskey and the first name it had was called Walkers Club Whiskey. In 1800 United States Distillers asked their Government to require all imported spirits to carry the name of their origin. That is when the name was change to Canadian Club or C.C. and we Canuks call it. He drinks his neat or on ice. I can't drink it that was because it is strong, 80 % proof of alcohol. I SACRIFICED myself and did a taste test just for you and this is my review of that: My first sip tasted like shoe polish with smell of either witch hazel or rubbing alcohol. Then I smelt a flower scent. The alcohol content didn't over the scent. I took a second sip and it tasted tart and my tongue went numb. It burned all the way down to my tummy! I tried drinking this with a mix of Coke and Ginger Ale but others may like it this way but I don't I can only drink Canadian Club is a cocktail. My easy was to drink it is to add it to hot tea and add a lot of sugar.

The COCKTAILS I like best are:

  • A WHISKEY SOUR: 1 1/2oz Canadian Club Sour mix with a drop of lime juice Mix whiskey and sour mix in a tall or stem glass over ice and add a dash of lime juice. * A REBELS YELL: 1 1/2oz Canadian Club 1oz Southern Comfort 1/2oz grenadine dash of lime juice Orange juice and Pineapple juice Mix Canadian Club, Southern Comfort and grenadine with equal parts of orange & pineapple juices in a tall or stem glass over ice then add a dash of lime juice. YOU SHOULD EAT WHEN YOU ARE DRINKING THIS: I serve pretzels, chips, a clam dip or hot chicken wings. THE PRICE: In Canada Canadian Club sells for $12.99 CAD per fifth while in the United States a standard size cost $13.00 USD. REMEMBER: Please never drink and drive.
