Good, yet confusing at times.

Story:

The Call of the Wild is a compelling book in which the main character, Buck, is forced into the frigid Yukon wilderness as a sled-pulling dog. In the beginning, he is kidnapped from his home at Judge Millers estate in a warm, sun-kissed valley and is taken away to be trained.

They take Buck to a backyard with many other dogs and if he trys to run away, a man in a red sweater will beat him till he behaves, and that is how Buck learns how things will be from now on. His first owners Fransisco and Perrault know much about they Yukon, but treat the dogs with extreme disrespect. Also, Buck sometimes got him one-meal-a-day stolen by one of the other dogs. Soon, he is sold to a new set of related owners by the names of Charles, Hal, and Mercedes. Mercedes is stubborn, but gentle with the dogs. And it seems that all Charles likes to do is whip Buck. At one occurrence, he whips him so much that he cannot move and a man named John Thorton comes and saves him, this is Bucks's new owner. Unlike the others, Buck loves Thorton and never lets him out of his sight.

They are many times where they save each other lives, and stay strong together through all the good times and bad. I would recommend this book to anyone that enjoys a good adventure and has a complex vocabulary, due to the fact that some parts are hard to understand. All together I give this book three and a half stars.
