Hi you all 
I m an alumni of this college now rechristened as National Institute of Technology, Calicut.
Well if you are planning for an engineering degree and dont get admissin to an IIT and even if u do but u dont have proper branch option then make it a point not to miss the RECs especially those of south.
 
I mean to say that the RECs of Surathkal, Trichy and Warangal are the places to be.

Well I belong to the batch of 1999-2003 from computer science and engineering.

I think ppl who have written reviews have covered a lot on the infrastructure and the location. So this time I would like to cover the necessary details on how to enjoy life in rec calicut. See, what I mean is everyone who comes here studies but there are very few who actually enjow while studying here.

So let me start with some of the attractions of this place:

1.It has a nice valley which is what its called. So if u have a Girl friend and want a place to to spend, u can take full advantage of this. But beware that the way to valley goes through the teachers residence.

2. Mamachand and Papachand These are the places which we used for the purpose of spending time duriong breaks and meal respectively. This is the place where we found many of the lecturers and staff as well.

3. Vinoo and Shamsu’s shops Here u get snacks and juices. Im not sure if Shamsu’s shop is still there. its been quite long since i went there.

4. Our very own MINI Canteen: The best part was that it used to be open till 2 am in the morning and great place to hang out when u wanted a break from soem studies during exam time. Oh did i forget that we used to get CIGARETTES as well here. But later authorities banned it. I m not sure abt the current status.

5. Krishna temple and Shiva temple Two places of worship where u could find some solace from day to day life’s problems.

6.Swimming Pool A nice place to cool u off especially after a long day at drawing hall and labs and workshops. One cons, the timing was different for boys and girls. So good, right?

7.Canteen: Good place to enjoy ur meal here if u dont mind having food made in coconut oil, especially chicken.

But its all about adjustment. So go ahead and enjoy ur life.

And I would like to advice u ppl that dont just study and spend time in books.
Go out and enjoy life to the fullest.
