Buying a Second Hand Car

I did shopping around for second hand cars and I noticed that how much a car has run is not really at the top of the mind of the buyer and seller and the agents. The first parameter is the year of registration
of the car.

I have seen in the US that they have published tables. One of the popular one is called Kelly Blue Book. This is an authrotative guide and it takes the model, year, miles on the car, accessories on the car to calculate the value. Banks use these table to decide the amount of loan thay can give for such a car purchase. You might negotiate a different (higher) price with a seller.

However in the Indian market, since the kms on the car is a second rung question (some agents had difficulty telling me the kms on the car, the first thing is model year), an intelligent buyer can get a good deal by choosing a car that is older but with fewer kms on it.
