Business World as all of you know is a weekly business-magazine published by the ABP Group. It has recently increased its price from Rs5 to Rs 10. There is considerable doubt in people's minds whether to buy B World or B Today which comes at the same price.
Here the issue is of quality. While the quality of reporting is very high in BW, the area of coverage of BW is not one of its strengths. While BW tends to do one major cover-story a week with a very high quality of background research as well as the current position combined with the future outlook. The USP of BW is its cover-story.However other issues are lightly touched upon which could do with more in-depth reporting and more coverage.
BW also has a very important feature-The Case Study. B-School students will find this feature very useful. What is the icing on the cake is however the solutions given by industry leaders at the end.So they can compare their solutions with the ones given by experts.
BW has a column by Mala Bhargava which is pretty useful for tech-geeks.Her reviews are quite informative. Also the book-review section of BW is good although very few books are reviewed.
The list of cons is not big. Prominent among them is the fact that BW does not have a Job-Column and also a column on solutions to problems being faced by executives. This would help BW tremendously to keep up with competition.
Other issues being the total lack of international coverage. And of course no stock-market reports which I feel should be a part of every Business Magazine.
However if you are looking for a magazine which is simple,lucid and is more comprehensible for the majority of people or B-School students this is the magazine for you.
