In early July 2003 I travelled World Traveller Plus which is a cabin of 5 rows in a 2-4-2 configuration . The seats recline more than the normal economy class (though not enough to really take the weight
off your spine). Seat Pitch at 38 inches was pretty sufficient for a 6ft 2in tall person, though the thigh and ankle extensions were designed probably with shorter persons in mind !!.In flight amenities bag provided-a thoughtful touch.
After takeoff from Delhi on time at an unearthly hour of 2.10am ,I slept thru the snack service and awoke two hours out of London ravenous-but the breakfast of tasteless omelette and sausage disappointed.
On the return leg ,after a wait of nearly an hour in the plane and a barrage of inflight announcements , we left London in brilliant sunshine around noon .The drinks trolley came around a couple of times with an efficient cabin crew member so one didnt have to hang about in between my gin and tonics. An excellent lunch of Lamb and Salad accompanied by a glass of red wine went down very well indeed ( wonder why the in flight catering out of New Delhi always leaves a lot to be desired).
Shades down for a movie followed by an afternoon siesta -during which refreshment trays kept coming around .
Quick businesslike disbursement of drinks and a sandwich snack an hour out of Delhi -followed by a hustle and bustle to square away the cabin for landing and we were on the ground -on time at 11 pm -no doubt aided by a tail wind.
BA World Traveller Plus reminds one of the early business class seats -but when compared to the cost of the flat bed Club World , its good value for money.especially on a 9hr long-haul journey
