My bf and I flew with BA recenty - Sep & Oct - between Bangkok and Sydney. Here are the pros and cons in point form.
Pros:
- paid extra for World Traveller Plus, so had a bigger chair.
-
checked in online.
- three of the 4 flights were on time.
- one check-in manager was helpful and kind in sydney.
- one in-flight attendant was helpful and polite.
Cons:
- no cutlery for the breakfast meal of yogurt and(stale) bread and butter
- downgraded (!!) to world traveller on one flight as there was no room in world traveller plus - the seat we paid for!
- check-in staff in sydney extremely rude and ordered us to rearrange all our luggage as we were only allowed one bag in the cabin.
- above check-in person checked my luggage in under my bfs name. This meant I was questioned at the boarding gate about why I was travelling to Bangkok with no bags checked in! This is not only incompetent, it directly undermines BAs stringent security policy.
- because of the above mistake, we were incorrectly charged $438 excess baggage fee.
- in-flight staff for two of the trips had attitude and didnt take much care of the elderly people sitting next to me (I looked after them the whole way, though).
- our email complaints/queries (there is no complaints number, only an email form) about being reimbursed for the downgrade and the incorrect excess baggage fees have still not been responded to.
I recommend Emirates for international flights - you get hundreds of media channels, fresh food, excellent service and punctuality, a few extra kilos of baggage and its cheaper than BA. JAL is also realy good. Im never flying BA again.
