The email for which I haven't yet got a response for
Dear Sir/Madam,
I am writing this email to document and communicate my grievance while also attempting to reach a person / department who can guide, help, resolve or the very least direct me to someone who can help.
My husband(Janak Sheth) and I decided to appear for the IETLS test and in the process of registering for the test at the earliest we chose the Bhatinda Centre, despite of currently residing in Rajkot(Gujarat) which is at a distance of 1176 Kilometres.
Our decision was based on 3 reasons-
The https://britishcouncil.in website implies that one can take a test anywhere in India based on the schedule and availability calendar
The centres in our proximity had seats available only in August 2016
We wanted the results as soon as we possibly could
Unfortunately, the British Council centre doesn’t let you know of the exact venue until 5 working days before the test date which is as per their policy, which becomes conspicuous only in the confirmation email that one receives after registration.
I just received an email that the exam to be held at the Bhatinda centre on the 21st of May will be partly held on 23rd of May post 3 pm and 24th May for my husband.
This makes it emotionally and practically painful and excruciatingly frustrating for us. So that you can comprehend our plight with a bit more specificity please read on:
The fees for the exam Rs 21000 for the two
Last minute hotel booking, considering the ever populated cities of India adds to the expense
We didn’t realise that the British Council could organize(split the exam modules) the test over 5-7 days until we spoke to Taru from the Customer Service who directed us to a fine print of the terms and conditions of the exam mentioned on the website which we still haven’t been able to locate.
This makes our entire attempt of sitting for the IELTS exam 3 times more expensive then the Rs 21000 which we had initially planned for(Now reaching Rs 65000)
While the fine print is certainly no waiver for the British Council to evade an allegation of unfair practise and unforeseeable financial and emotional harm, it becomes a gruelling process to have to take formal legal steps and involve the social and vertical specific press.
I want someone to help with options of how this can be addressed.
