It seems that I'm the first student writing a review on Mouthshut, and I agree wholeheartedly with all the preceding reviews by parents. After having been a student in Brigade School (JP Nagar) for seven dull years, I can easily say that it is A TERRIBLE SCHOOL. During it's inception, it was relatively better, but as the years went by, the quality fell miserably.

Right now, the school has practically NO quality. I left the school recently and it was one of my best decisions ever. This year, the school's quality is so miserable that I'm insulted to have ever studied there.

My dislike towards the school stems from multiple angles:

  1. RIDICULOUSLY HIGH FEES: The school is a money extorting machine. The fee increases TREMENDOUSLY each year. And they charge exorbitant amounts for things such as uniform and books and something called "Course material" which is like, 2 worksheets a year.

2 SYLLABUS: Half the school studies ICSE and the other half CBSE. The school is confused about it's syllabus. It tries to make the syllabus tougher so that it can produce "academic whizkids" But the school does not teachers competent enough to teach a challenging syllabus like ICSE.

3 FACULTY The teachers aren't competent enough to teach ANY syllabus actually.

Most of the good teachers have left the school. While I studied, many teachers did not even have a basic teaching degree. I personally know of a teacher(a reasonably good one) who left the school because of the how the management treats teachers: In a high handed, restrictive manner. Because teachers keep leaving, the school desperately searches for new teachers to fill up the gap, making the faculty inconstant.

In one year, I had 4 teachers for the SAME subject, because each of the teachers left.

4 MANAGEMENT: THE MANAGEMENT DOES NOT CARE ABOUT STUDENTS. THEY CARE ONLY ABOUT MONEY AND I KNOW THIS FROM PERSONAL EXPERIENCE. Also, the management is highly distant from the students, feared by the teachers and VERY arrogant.

5 The school is not parent or student friendly. Parents are not welcome by the school. Both parents and students have to go through an arduous system to get a simple document or appointment. Complaints are rarely replied to and action regarding these complaints is NEVER taken. Parent-teacher meetings last 5 minutes.(I'm not exaggerating)

A few years ago, the student was discussed thoroughly during these meetings. But now the student is appraised only in an academic manner.(Teachers barely know students) 6 THE SCHOOL'S ATTITUDE: To the school, students are merely assets, measured in terms of how much money can be extorted from them and how much they can score academically so that the school can keep it's 'rep.' The school only recognizes and gives opportunities to students who get academically. Students who don't, are forgotten and often chastised.

The school makes no attempt to ensure the overall development of the student. ALSO, students with an interest in humanities have NO PLACE in this school. This too, I know from personal experience. Once, a teacher of mine openly ridiculed students who said that they planned to take humanities/ arts subjects after 10th.

7 STUDENTS: The students here are nothing spectacular either.

The regular student problems of bullying, exclusion, groupism etc etc are all there in this school. Though my batch and the batch directly above and below me are relatively okay, I can't say the same about the students who are my seniors and juniors by a few years.

Some are so neck deep in addiction and bad company that wouldn't be surprised if in a few years, one of them overdosed in a hotel room. So, now that my huge rant is done, all I can say is: DO NOT JOIN BRIGADE SCHOOL.
