The path to happiness...Books
Jun 25, 2006 03:08 PM 6096 Views

Am an avid reader, of anything that has words and that I find around me. it could be office, home, friends house, club, car, etc. So much so, that my mom says I could probably survive in a room with no food or Tv but with just books.

I worship them and wish I could one day create my own personal library instead of having to store them away in cupboards and shelves between clothes and such. Sigh!

I borrow books from the library most of the time and when I make a visit, I normally return with atleast 3-4books. Some by known authors and others new writers. The path to happiness as I call it is by reading a lot and exploring unknown areas and genre's which broadens your horizon and makes your life better. Its an experience in itself.

When I return home with a load of books, I make sure the table beside the computer is empty and waiting for the new set of books, next to it is a stationery stand that contains a couple of book marks that I USE for everybook I read. If I am reading 2-3books at the same time, I have an individual bookmark for each of them. Cos I hate to fold the edges and give the book Dogs ears, it spoils the look of the book and wears it out.

At times, if the book is from a friend, I cover it up with plastic sheet or newspaper just so I dont dirty it and make sure it gets returned before the friend comes asking for it.I also make sure I return the book on time to the library, cos am sure there are others waiting to read the book and I know how frustrated I feel when a book I want has not been returned yet.

Another habit I have is to note down any word or phrase that was interesting or that I couldnt understand for later reference. Never use a pen or pencil in a book, esp one that is NOT yours. A golden rule that I follow all the time is to return the book to its rightful place(the table next to my computer at home, and in my bag or draw while at Work) when am not reading it. This way I wont have to search for it when I feel the urge to read.

Hope these were useful to you. so the next time you borrow a book, remember to read, enjoy, savor it but return it with love and care.

Happy reading!
