A book lover
Dec 01, 2007 12:44 AM 6208 Views

I love reading books. Period. LOL.From the childhood my parents encouraged me to read books. But initially I was reading only Gujarati books as I am from Gujarati medium school. My father had subscribed various magazines like chandamama, champak, fulwari, chandan for the reading. Also I was member of a public library in mulund(a suburb in mumbai where I live). I used to love reading stories.

My beautiful journey into reading English started during my 1st year engineer when I had to take a break from studies for a year because I was not able to give exams because of typhoid. During that time I remember my best friend one day came my home and gave me 15 small English books. These included Enid Byte, Nancy drew, one mills and boon, shakespeare in easy English and so. She was my initiator for English reading. I still remember day when to read one paragraph I had taken more than an hour as I was checking meaning of word in dictionary to understand. When she suggested I should go with a flow and I will understand things. Those were also some days.

I just cannot imagine my world without books. Now I have read lots of good big English book, biggest or rather thickest being "The Atlas Shrugged" and loved it.

Initially I was just home reader. But in one book I remember, my 1st John Grisham book, which I love the most "The runaway jury" in which hero goes to being a jury for a trial n goes with a book to do time pass. That changed me. I started reading books everywhere. In the bus, In the train, waiting for bus, on the station waiting for train. sometimes if its too interesting even while eating.:)

I am not much of a collector of books though I do have HP series, "The atlas shrugged" and some of the non fiction book. I usually get my books from Roxy thats private library in mulund. Also I am member of a public library also.

What I read, I read lots of fiction. From books like "The Atlas Shrugged" "fountainhead" to light books like archies yes I still read them to I know the ALWAYS happy ending kind of mills and boon books. I read Gujarati books too."Saat pagla aakash maan" and kanhaiyalal munshi's 4 book series r something that I still remember fondly. I had read some good Hindi books during my kovid exams in Hindi. I had like "Gaban" by premchand but that was in school.

Sometimes back I read my first non fiction book that was "Tough time never lasts but tough people do" so from there on, from time to time I have read some of non fiction self help kind of books also. But generally my liking is fiction.

I love reading at night. Though for a page turner book anytime is good time. After reading  a heavy book or big book or a non fiction book or a tragic book i prefer reading couple of mills and boon book and/or an Archies. Where I know the end will be positive n smiling.

I am old paper book fan. I have read couple of good e books but generally I try n get a copy of book where I can turn the pages with hand. Nowadays I have developed a hobby of reading review of the book I have read and understand some different point of views.

Generally its my habit to have a book in my hand when sleeping.  To be engrossed in the beautiful world the author creates. Most of the time they succeed in taking me away with them till I am reading and sometimes after wards also when I am remembering.

I enjoy books.
