This is one train journey that I relish.....Tata to Palghat, by 8189/8689(Tata Alleppy).
A lot has been said about this train,that the service is not good,it is perenially late.
Frankly I have not been late by this train on most occasions except one where the train reached about 40mins behind schedule.
The train can be speeded up further and unneccessary stops can be reduced.The train takes maximum time in Orissa & Andhra where there is a stop in every village....well almost. Also there are areas where the train takes 1hr to cover a distance of 30-35kms.
What is needed is removal of some of these stops, and speeding up in the areas where it is very slow. Also a 3tier AC can be added to the existing 2nd AC as it will benefit passengers those who cannot afford to travel in 2nd AC.
It is definitely a good train for the people of Jharkhand & Western Orrissa.....their only direct daily connection to the South of India.
People generally tend to think about their own loss or gain, it would be nice if people understand that a service which is being provided is for the public at large and not for people in certain region or cities.
I would definitely recommend this train to anybody who would love to travel rather than going for business purposes.
