The setting of this story is in shimla, the former british colonial’s hill station.......

The story is going back from the end when Mr. sahai got the alzeimer to the beginning when he had a mission to teach a deaf and blind person named Michelle. Michelle has no hope until her met Mr sahai, her teacher.

Mr. sahai has no ’’ impossible’’ in his mind. At the very beginning, Michelle’s father almost blow up her chance to be a human beings.

The first complex is that Michelle’s father prejudge those who are deaf and blind as an imcomplete person even that person is his daugther.

In short, her father overlooks her spirit.

Being human beings is simply to HAVE A LANGUAGE. But Michelle’s language is totally different from the others. Her language started with B L A C K, her only possible perception.

The touch of water is shown at the beginning and the end. When they start to form a mutual sign.


What teacher has done to Michelle is not too brutal at all. All children must undergo this period of enculturation as well.

Body language plays an important here. But the heart language is more important.
People use heart a lot to communicate in this story.

Michelle’s mother, with her great heart, refuse Michelle’s father’s saying just to try.

Mr Sahai has a spirit of being teacher. He lives his life for others.

This movie also show how difficult deaf and blind person learn language. Everythings are done by trial. No pattern for teaching at all. Otherwise, Michelle would have started more early...........

Being deaf and blind doesn’t mean that Michelle can not appreciate Arts.

God, for Michelle, still has some kindness to open other door for her to learn about the life. For me, I think all human beings have to struggle but we have the special and unique form of struggle in order to be successful.

Even though she can not see and hear things, she still wanted to be indendant person. During the interview for the university, she proved that she possess the wisdom by answer all question perfectly. For example, she talk about the roundness of the globe that make America are at all directions.

Then, Michelle has been passed all state of being human being. She has love towards her sister, her parents , her teacher.

Sarah’s complex is Michelle’s talent. She truly love her sister but sometimes she got envious. By the way, she has the courage at the end to confess and say sorry. She got those kind of emotion and feeling coz she is also human beings.

At the end, Michelle got a degree of arts.
Emotions and feelings are colours that Michelle has.

Being happy for all one’s life is impossible.

BLACK, the color of knowleadge is the reality of life.
