Figment of imagination !

Story:

Now, historic novels need very extensive research and can not rely on heresy or figment of imagination. In hindi genre; it was late Amrit Lal Nagar, a very learned  hindi scholar who created his sagas around Baba Tulsi Das ji and Baba Sur Das ji. In english, only scholars like   Manohar Mulgaonkar and Khushwant Singh spun their yarn around historic characters.

Thus, in my humble view, this is not a good book but a simple attempt to recreate amrapali( a known hindi movie) for english readers.

Apparently, the author has never studied pali classics or have done extensive research on buddhism.

After going through its first few pages; I could only laugh and feel sad for our history!

Nayanjyot Lahiri- a learned academic(a historian of repute) on ashoka and buddha has often pointed out in her articles- how Indian writers take liberties with historic characters!

Afterall, dead can't defend themselves!
