Story:

Sidney Sheldon has written some of the most racy and intriguing novels I have ever read with the most unpredictable climaxes! I've enjoyed most of his tales of revenge and murder.

The Best Laid Plans is about a lawyer, Oliver Russell who jilts the love of his life to marry another woman who is his stepping stone to becoming the next governor and then president.

The jilted lover is Leslie Stewart, a brilliant advertising campaigner who vowed never to give her heart to any man but made the biggest mistake of her life giving it to Oliver. His desertion leaves a gaping wound in her heart and a burning desire for revenge. Whats that they say about Hell hath no fury........?

Oliver is desperately in love with Leslie and didn't mean to jilt her on purpose. Manipulated by Senator Todd Davis into marrying his daughter Jan, Oliver is thrown the bait of the governorship and promised the presidency.

In order to wreak revenge on Oliver, Leslie begins to acquire a control over the media - radio, newspapers, television, everything.

Meanwhile, President Russell is leaving a trail of bodies in his wake, cause of death said to be an overdose of a liquid drug named Ecstacy. Oliver once wanted Leslie to try the drug with him, thereby incriminating himself in all the murders.

The delicate balance is tipped when a state governors 16 year old daughter is found dead in an expensive hotel room, brought on by the liquid drug Ecstacy. All stops have been pulled out to trace the real murderer.

The end of this novel is a climax in true ''Sheldon'' style. Once you reach the end, you realise that what words you associated with one person was actually the wrong one and keeps you thinking about the book long after the final chapter has been read and closed.
