Well here I am writing about Popeye, the movie. Although I chose a wrong catagory to write about it, I am sure it would be less tedious to just write it somewhere instead of suggesting a new product.
*I'm Strong to the finish'coz I eats me Spinach . I'm Popeye the sailor man . toot toot!
*Yep . this line comes to the mind as soon as one thinks of Popeye. This movie was no different.
Directed by Robert Altman, it features the same old theme, where Popeye, played by Robin Williams, is washed away to the coast of Sweethaven, falls in love with Olive Oyl (played by Shelley Duval), adopts Sweetpea and makes an enemy with Bluto(Paul L Smith) . One can also meet the popular characters of the cartoon like Wimpy, Poopdeck Pappy and Sweet Pea.
Alhough, the movie didnt get very popular with the mass, did not recieve and appriciation from the critics, had a lot of chaos in the movie, where many characters were speaking at the same time and the above paagrapgh would sum up the whole movie but I still liked it.
For a person who has grown up watching Popeye, it was a nice treat to watch one of his favourite actors portray the character. There are pretty good things to watch out for in this movie .
- The portrayal of the movie characters by the actors / actresses. Considering the fact that it was one of his first movies, Robin Williams, gave an awesome performance as Popeye, enacting Popeye's moves and his voice with ease!
2. Although it corresponded to Duvall's breakdown, I thought no body could have played the skimpy and easily frightened Olive Oyle with her infamous line " HELP! POPEYE! "
- Two songs were absolutely awesome! " I Yam What I YAM " sung by Popeye and " Popeye the sailor man " sung by popeye again . Too good both of them!
Here's my homage to a classic which was forgotten with time!
