When I drink Martinis I make them with BEEFEATERS, (London Distilled Gin). I like it because it is strong! This gin is from maze, strains of barley and pure grain sprits. Then corriander seeds ,
orange peel, lemon peel and the juniper plant are added. Of course there are a few secret ingredients.
The mixture is place into the pot still and left there for 24 hours. It is gently removed and the distillation process takes 8 hours. During the distillation the botanical flavors are added at different stages. According to law when you make gin the Juniper Berries must be the dominant ingredients.
When I took my first sip the first thing I tasted was the juniper. It is 70 proof yet it goes down smoothly. The alcohol is skillfully blended and interwoven into the texture of the spirit. Many people drink gin with tonic or lemonade.
THE DRINKS: *THE CLASSIC MARTINI is made with 1 1/2 oz of chilled Beefeater add 3/4 oz of dry Vermouth. Stir gently and pour into a cocktail glass. Add a twist of lemon peel or an olive. If you add onions the drink is called a GIBSON. *MRSCANADAS VARIATION ON THE CLASSIC MARTINI is a bit different. I do use 1 1/2 oz of chilled Beefeater and use one drop, (or none), of dry Vermouth. I shake it gently and add it to a cocktail glass and add 5 olives. Sometimes will pour it over a glass filled with ice to make the drink last longer. I enjoy a GIBSON as well but I use 3 pickled onions.
*FROZEN MARTINI is made with the same ingredience as the Classic Martini but you add strained berries and pour it into a glass of crushed ice.
*CHOCOLATE MARTIN is made with 1 1/2 oz of Beefeater and 1 1/2 oz of Chocolate Liquor. Put ice in a chilled cocktail glass and pout the liquor into it. Garnish the drink with whipped cream and chocolate shavings.
*BRONX is made with 1 1/2 oz. of Beefeater, 1/2 oz. of sweet Vermouth and the juice of a quarter of and orange. Shake gently and strain it into a martini glass that has some ice in it. Garnish the drink with an orange slice.
*BLOODY MARY is made with 2 oz of Beefeater, 4 oz of tomato juice, 1/2 tsp sugar. Then add a dash of lemon juice, celery salt, Worchester sauce and Tabasco sauce. Add salt and pepper to you liking. Garnish with a celery stalk.
SOME THOUGHTS: There must be hundreds of drinks that you can make with gin. I prefer Beefeater Gin but the drinks can be made with your favorite gin. PLEASE REMEMBER NEVER TO DRINK AND DRIVE. ©LL
