THE AVENGER ADVT.: FEEL LIKE GOD

I had returned home from a stint at sea mid Sept.. While watching TV, I saw this advertisement. Caught my attention. It?s another story that I now have the Avenger in my stables. Read the review.

The Man The Machine and God

It took some time for me to understand the advertisement. A man is riding the Avenger on a road with the mountains of Ladakh in the background. You hear him say :

?I forgive my father, I forgive my boss, and I forgive the Government, my barber, my past, I forgive them all, I feel like God. Bajaj Avenger DTSi?

The key word is Feel. Has the rider achieved a state of Nirvana? Liberated his soul? Can a bike do that?

The closest I ever felt like God was when I was Scuba Diving in the deep blue sea, in the coral reefs of the Maldives. It was a fabulously exhilarating feeling. Besides, I was in a mild state of Nitrogen narcosis, a situation underwater where nitrogen acts like marijuana. And I did not have to forgive anybody. Can this be replicated riding a bike?

I got that answer reading biking experiences of many riders on the web site www.60kph.com. One of the most incredible rides here is a write up on ?Kutch Calling? by Vishnu Shetty, a Software Engineer from Banglore, who rode from Banglore to the Rann of Kutch on his Bullet along with 20 other riders from different cities in India.

He ends the story of his odyssey with

?When our memories outweigh our dreams, we have grown old.? Another way of saying ?I Feel like God?? Do read this link. It?s awesome, so inspiring.

I guess ?I feel like God? means that man?s ultimate high riding the Avenger. What else?

This advt must have hit the buyers pretty hard. Avenger bookings in Pune are good.

On the road I do not see many yet. I do get hard looks from folks in cars, buses, bikers and in the parking lot. It?s a matter of time, before something else comes in the showrooms.

It?s another thing that the Bullet guys give a walk over to the Avenger! Have looked at the Thunderbirds. God, are they ugly!
