Dear Friends I have been using Bajaj Platina since 2006 almost more than 10 years, Its really vert economical bike as its fuel efficient, it has almost more than 85 KMPL. maintenance is almost normal in this ten years I have not spend more on maintenance. Only you need to do is get it checked by technician regularly every six months. I have not even changed the tiers. All I do is regularly clean up the air filter and carburetor and spark plug. I can do it by my self as I am an automobile engineer. Anybody can do it as its very easy to open and reassemble the same. one can learn by going to youtube and watching videos from there. If you do not have time and experience than you can simply go to the service center and get it done and this will not even cost you much as you have to do it once every six months so that the vehicle is maintained well and it will benefit you as its KMPL will be very good and it wont let you down on the road. For safety purpose you should always wear helmet and be safe on highways as well as you should also wear it in the city to avoid the injury to head in the time of accident. The bike is very slow when you are having a pillion rider with you and if he is heavy than you will have to ride the bike in second and third gear only and sometimes even in first gear, this type of situation occurs even when you are climbing hill because engine of this bike is of only 100 cc. But compared to the price you are paying for this bike its worth buying this type of bike if you are alone and your use is limited to the city only if you have to travel out of the city frequently then you might no feel comfortable with this type of bike may be you need some heavy bike or bike having powerful engine. If you are planning to purchase this bike than I would suggest you to go for it if you have to use it in the city only. Purchase of any type of bike must be according to you requirement and usage only because if you have to travel out of the city everyday and you are having pillion always with you than this bike might be not useful to you. You can also get a trial ride before you buy. This is my third bike but this was the best bike as my usage is limited to the city and most of the time I have to ride the bike alone so it gives me good fuel average almost more than 85 km per liter. Bajaj motor cycles are having good resale value also. So even after use of 10 years I might be able to sell my bike at very good price, the main part is that you get the buyer very easily while in some of the bike you don't even get the buyer if you want to sell it at throw away price also. So resale value is very important factor to be considered while purchasing a new bike. Another most important thing is that you get all the spare parts every where in India even in small village you can get the spare parts very easily so you need not worry for that and that also at very cheap rate. In some company after the bike model is discontinued they even stop selling the spare parts so you don't get it if some parts are damaged. So overall this bike has every thing one should need and I would really give 5 star rating to it.
