With a great sense of satisfaction and with a deep respect in my heart Iam writing on my companion for the last nine years Bajaj Boxer.

I purchased Kavasaki Bajaj Boxer in the Year March 2001. Before buying I had following choices available in the Market. Hero Honda Splendor, Passion, Street, CD100SS and CBZ

Bajaj Boxer, Caliber ( Pulser I think was not yet launched that time)

TVS Suzuki Max 100, Samurai, Sholin

Yamaha RX100

As I was mileage concious and my salary was not that big I was surely looking for a byke that would give maximum mileage. Few of my friends suggested Splendor, few wanted me to go with Passion and One of my friend just commented that KB 4S Champion that his friend is owning is giving a whooping mileage of 85 km/ltr. I could not believe at a first instance but later started doing my own research on various available bykes.

Finally two bykes drew my attention one is splendor as I had learnt byking with this byke and relatively lesser priced, not so goog looking boxer.

As my pocket did not allow me to purchase Splendor ( it was cositng 50k plus that time !!!) I decided to go with Boxer which was priced @ 36500/- on road that time.

All my colleagues , friends ridiculed my decisiont o go with this byke and challenged me that I would be selling this off within six months. They alos suspected that this byke would start giving mileage problems, engine would get weared out very soon etc. But I had only one thing in my mind i.e. I should pay very less EMI (1398 p.m. I paid for 18 months with BAFL) and byke should give maximum of 75-80 km/ltr mileage.

I took the delivery one fine day and started using. I gave the byke for first servicing with VST Bajaj(service center was in Yeshwanthpur, Bangalore that time). Later my firends suggested me not to handover for free servicing as none of the Service Centers would provide quality and dedicated service to your machine as they have to do hundreds of such warranty services everday.

Honestly I followed my friends atleast this suggestion and started giving byke for servicing every month (irrespective of completions of 2000 kms) to a Garage near my office. He used to complete the service same and also change oil. This continued for nearly one and a half year and completed nearly 20000 kms in that period.

Believe me or not during that period my byke never gave me any trouble (except in the chilling mornings of decembers) and yielded close to 75 km/ltr during first year and later as I started byking at good speeds it gave me 70 !!!.

Even now I race this byke like any other branded byke and believe me I have completed more than a lakh Kms by this time. And to my experience even today my boxer is givin me a mileage of 65 km/ltr. Till today I have never thought of servicing the engine. Now a days I do not give my byke for regular servicing. I change oil myself regularly and whenever I feel I get the chain lubricated, Brake shoes changed, Air Filter and Caburator clearned once in year or two. I have never spent any money on any of the parts except on oil, spark plug and clutch plate(once), brake and clutch cables etc.

But I realy do not understand why Bajaj do not continue such models by making improvements to its looks, technology etc. Instead they are releasing new models every six months that would not stay in the market for more than a year or two. This one such bad habits of Bajaj Brand. Not a worry, I love my byke so much that I am not ready to change this byke though there are tremendous pressure from my family and friends to change this old byke.

I never encountered any problem with my byke. Its city riding conditions are marvelous. You can easily travel in the city without chaning the gears very offten. Now a days Suzuki and other brand bykes claim that their bykes can ride in 4th / 5th Gear even at a speed of 20 kmph. Come guyz I show that you can ride in My Boxer @ 15 kmph in 4th gear that too in city traffic.

The performance of my boxer is truly remarkable and remember that I purchased by boxer @ 15k less than splendor in 2001. My boxer is truly a value for money and a reliable companion for ever. I still have to say a lot on this byke but will do so after a gap. Thnaks for reading my review and thanks to Mouth Shut for providing me the opportunity.
