One thing for sure you will never have a 100% feel good factor after buying bajaj discover 125cc.  Bajaj bikes always have some or the other defects in almost all their bikes. You will never be satisfied by their bike products whatever 100cc, 125 or 135 or 150cc brands. I just bought this 125cc discover 3 months back and writing this review based on my driving experience, about the external parts, and what it lacks, and how it could have been better.

Looks

Looks sleek, and trendy, i.e. if you opt for full red colour model. Other colours black and blue ones look ordinary, nothing great about it. Overall I like the looks. Nothing extraordinary but still very macho look.

*Comfort

*Well not that bad either, but not even great. Seats are well placed and are comfortable. Mirrors could have been placed properly, I am still not able to fully see backside from the rear mirror, which should have been placed properly.

Tyres

Hmmm tyres are a bit thin which I was expecting a bit thicker for a 125cc, but the black alloy wheels looks good to the bike. It’s high time that BAJAJ introduces puncture resistant tyres, like the one which Honda produces. This is apt for Indian Roads, no wonder why Honda bikes rule the market. Instead of putting more money on Dtsi, they should concentrate on getting hi tech puncture resistant tyre technology, atleast for pune, as pune roads are nightmare…

DTSi

God know what exactly is DTSi, anyone here can you tell me what is the use of this digital twin spark ignition and what exactly does it do? All that the dealer would know is that it has dual spark engine which will make your engine strong. But I am not satisfied with the answer. If anyone can brief on the same it would be good for all.

Dashboard

This is the area which I really hate BAJAJ discover 125 for…. It’s misleading, there is no where in indicator saying that you are in which gear, at-least when in 4th gear you should get the reading that you are in top gear, so that in traffic we come to know how to come back to neutral. Now we need to hit back 4 times to come back to neutral, at times this gets frustrating while in traffic. Good thing is we have an electric start so whenever the bike stops in between you can start with this, but this is not a solution. Ideal would be to keep gear indicators, N – 1 -  2  -  3 -  Top gear. I know they will say that this is there in pulsurs, but man its high time that bajaj puts this as ad value to their 125/135 cc versions. I had this Hero Honda street before this, they had this display which was very useful. Bike makers should now look at the comfort level and user friendliness of the riders. They can’t just take riders for granted.

Start

They have provided electric start and kick start. Electric start till now is working fine, but kick start was a problem initially but after the first service it got proper. No problem in morning start too because they have given a choke button kinda thing when your engine doesn’t start you can push the choke button and kick start or electric start. So that good in here.

Gear Shifting

Somewhat problematic but I guess this will be resolved after second service

Speed

Runs well till 60-70 kmph, but starts to bit shake a bit after 70kmph, you will feel it that this bike is not fit to run beyond 70. But if you don’t mind that then that’s OK.

*Mileage

*Most important feature in any vehicle for all the Indian. It will be a disappointment if you expect anything in 60-70 kmpl. This bike will give you only between 45-50 kmpl in city, no matter how much service you do. Even the dealer will say that it won’t give you more than 55. To me its OK, 50 kmpl is not that bad for a 125 cc bike, also I checked with hero Honda and HONDA’s, its almost the same there too. No complaints from me but people who expect more please go in for 100cc.

Pricing

Pricing 50k for 125cc and 55k for 135cc, I would suggest go in for 125cc as I don’t see any additional feature in 135cc. But if you ask me if it’s worth the 50k. I would say NO. price of 125cc discover should be around 41-45000.

Overall summary

Not that worst bike, looks good, performance wise too it is good, look wise it rocks, mileage wise average. Not fully value for money but an average bike. Buy it if you are not long distance traveler, for shorter distance like travel inside the city limits this bike is good.

5.5 out of 10 marks
