i ve been a bsnl customer for quite some time.i ve been using its moblie connection all over rural india - best price verses service offered.the landline broadband i am a fan...now coming to EVDO was lookin for a mobile net connection which covers even rural india with a good speed.
went to their Koramalgala BDA branch in bangalorethe mobile department BSNL staff indeed did clearly mention that though the advertised speed is 3.1mbps it will hardly give you 2mbps and only within bangalore. it is based on CDMA 1x connection. they even advised me to gather more information of futher connectivity from their main office near GPO, bangalore. which i did.i learnt from tat office that EVDO net is still on experimental stage in few other cities too. its a WLL based connection and so you will get better speed in cities - with CDMA1x tower compared to rural with usuall WLL towers. guess till sept 09 it will improve and expand.(This was a + push for me, definitly looking forward for better coverage by next year as i plan for a long term connection).
review from other friend users wasreliance had the best speed (it had a premuim price and usage limitation, moreover in long term i had exprienced difficulties with customer support, dead connections and had ended two connections)
EVDO speed was not very great especially with mulitple windows open it almost freezes
in may09 went for EVDO connection. it was an immediate on the spot delivery on submission of form. koramangala BDA branch was more than help full. activation takes 24 hrs.
- after installation in the skin(software) setting menu Enter the WLL no. given in ur reciept for both User : & Pass word: (the staff at window in not good for info like thisjust hunt for the right staff, here the head of mobile department in the concerned branch.)- speed differs - i have been using it in flat in HSR layout, Bangalore.(poor for BSNL reception, indoor, even mobile phones) for past 2 weeks speed is poor but then dont expect the performance of bsnl landline broadband connection, multiple windows is painfully slow. at times have to sit in the balcony to get proper signal- avg uprate 60kbps and down rate 122kbps for good signal 20% of my usage- avg uprate 8kbps and downrate 22kbps for poor signals 75% of my usageif i am lucky downrate touches 900kbps 5% of my usage
- but unlimited download offer in Rs.550 is cool...even if it takes time..good for overnight downloads.. i have downloaded 5 MB file in 1 minute. its true.downloaded 700MB in 7 hrs - normal download.
ITS SURE U NEED PATIENCE TO USE EVDO to reap its benefits... good for home use (for now)
