I have been using BSNL for the past 6 yrs and am very happy with their service. During this duration I also used Airtel(Average), Vodaphone(pathetic) and Reliance(below average) so can compare with even more confidence.

The best part is:
1.Excellent network coverage
2.Transparent billing and charges.
3.Among the most cost effective
4.The general perception that people have about a public sector enterprise does not hold good. The customer care is responsive like any other private operator if not better.
5. They don’t bug you like Reliance constantly to change your plan because reliance is not making enough money from the low rental plan that you have choosen.
6.CLIP is free. to the best of my knowledge.

The only flip side is that you might have to wait for getting the sim....but I can assure you its worth it. Highly Recommend it to every one.
