Isn't it a brilliant marketing idea? If I were a car seller I would have certainly done that. At least I tried to do that when I bought one.I was looking for a bicycle that was very light, had gears, was trendy looking, and did fit my budget. I was not looking for shocks (shock absorbers etc) as it would have increased the overall weight. So to give some luxury to your but you end up troubling your feet which are already tired pushing. So overall not a great idea (Of coarse, this is my personal view, people may think otherwise ;). I was also not in favour of thick tires, as they increase the overall friction which means more trouble for your feat. Thick tires are good for slow cycling or mountain riding though, as they give you good grip on the surface.
BSA Mach was an exact match to my requirements. Very light in weight, slim tires, 6 gears, cool looks. The only drawback is that the seat cushion is very thin, which means that more pain for your but. But that’s OK for a short time (No problems if it is used to). Gears work very fine. (In tune with BSA quality consciousness). The best thing was that it did fit in my budget ! I got it for ~ 4500 bucks.
All in all a good deal.
