Sorry to say this, but I had a very bad experience about the aviva life policy that my brother took in 2013, paid few premiums, and got discontinued for few .


But later in May 2015 he updated the complete premium and made the account active again. During his payment of premium, none of the insurance team told him that there was a lapse of account and once policy is revoked by paying the amount, the policy start date will get changed to the most recent revoked period. This is a kind of cheating that the company is doing to customers, by not informing the customer about the start date changes, that they are hiding the reality.


Accidentally, my brother expired recently, and there was no one to take care of his family as he was the only earning member in the family with 2 small kids, wife and parents dependent on him.


we were in a hope that the family would get support by getting the insurance amount he had(my brother) covered. We contacted the agent and submitted all the documents as required with out missing any collecting them with lots of effort, time and money to get those documents on time travelling many times to he place of accedent of my brother.


Once all was processed, we got a letter saying the insurance amount cannot be given, as the policy is revoked and the policy start date is most recent date when the last premium was paid, which was supposed to be highlighted by the company or agents long back.


Its purely inhuman that a company like aviva is hiding such important points of terms and condition from customer when they take the policy but/and revealing the same during claim for death of policy holder.


Now, how will the family survive, how about the premium amount he already paid.


Why didnt the company reveal this secret when he was a customer or even during revoking the policy by paying premium.


Team, try to be fair to customers, else you will loose business a lot by such incidents.


Also, if the company is unable to pay the claim money to the family, then I would surely take next step against the company, assuming it as a fraud or cheating to the policy holder, what so ever the tough step it could be.


My sincere request Please consider this email as a request or alert and give justice to the deceased family by paying the claim/insured amount.
