I have been watching this serial from day I and really enjoy it. It is a very captivating story about Dr. Simran, a very successful and beautiful doctor.

The story began by showing how she falls
in love with Abhimanyu, a guy 10 yrs younger than her. Both decide to get married in spite of objections from both families. The story proceeds with Simran trying her best to get along with her in-laws who (particularly her mother-in-law) are quite hostile towards her. Abhimanyu and Simran finally move to their own house and are very happy with each other until Simran announces that she is pregnant.

Life then take a turn for the worst for Simran, with Abhimanyu not wanting the child since he feels he is too young. Abhimanyu also gets drawn towards his new assistant Kiran and cheats on Simran. This relationship of Abhimanyu’s is supported by his mother who tries her best to bring them even closer. Abhimanyu leaves his pregnant wife and moves in with Kiran and gets married to her even before his divorce with Simran.

The character of Simran is played by Nikki Aneja who very beautifully expresses every emotion in Simran’s life. I especially like this serial because every character has been brilliantly created and they behave like nomal people would. There is no dramatic dressing (make up + clothes) like in other soaps.

Well continuing with the story, Simran gives birth to a daughter, goes throught severe depression but pulls through and carries on with life. After a while a rift appears between Kiran and Abhimanyu and they too seperate. Abhimanyu keeps meeting Simran on the pretext of meeting his daughter. Simran’s father doesn’t approve of this but Simran allows him to do so since she doesn’t want her daughter to miss the love of a father.

Suddenly, Dr. Abhimanyu Joshi, Simran’s first love, comes back to her life. He is an army doctor, whom she assumed him dead after his plane crashed behind enemy lines. But as fate would have it, he was a pow and comes back home after 11/12 yrs. After much coxing by her family, she decides to marry him. The wedding preparations are in full swing when she gets to know that he is already married and also has a kid. Another severe blow in Simran’s life. She not being able to take the shock, meets with an accident.

As she lies in the hospital, Abhimanyu (ex- husband) really takes good care of her and turns over a new leaf. He helps her to get on with life and also to forgive Dr. Joshi. At this point it seemed that both Simran and Abhimanyu would get back together. But no, as the story turns out, Simran convinces Abhimanyu to marry his collegue Neha (who is in love with him) and so the story continues....

These days, Astitva is becoming a drag with new characters and events being added. I really wonder how this serial will end. I just hope Dr. Simran finds the love and understanding she needs from someone...
