Pros:
Astitva
Cons:
turned into Kastitva that keeps going and going and.....

Astitva should become Kastitva because it is going the way of Kekta Kapoor’s crazy serials. It seems like even this sensible (used to be) serial has been attacked
by Kekta’s bhoot.

I started seeing this serial when the 34 yr old Dr. Simran (Nikki Aneja) tied the knot with a 24 yr old photographer Abbhi (Varun Badola). Then it became same old story like other serials, because genius serial makers threw in extramarital affairs. But I would still watch this show because of Kiran (the third wheel) who was having the affair with a much married Abbhi. I was waiting to see the downfall of Kiran and Abbhi’s affair, however after Kiran left the picture and Abbhi realized what a fool he has been for leaving Simran, this serial has become extremely BORING!

The boring things that have marred the serial of its excitement are the following:

* The Prisoner of War that has sleptwalked from other serials into our DR. Simran’s life (He is so uninteresting that his reel or real name escapes me)

* The Pakistan flashback that the POW had and now his Pakistani wife and kid coming into his life - Maha boring

* Abbhi meeting some girl who has a delusional mother

* The loud, tacky, delusional mother (I think her real name is Himani Shivpuri?). This woman sticks out like a sore thumb in the serial. I fail to understand why serial makers would just put anything or anyone in the serial even though their presence does not make sense in the big picture. Very Irritating!!!

The last I saw of this serial (hoping that it would regain even a shred of sensibility that it once had) was Dr. simran having an accident because stupid POW lied to her of his pakistan connections. Due to accident, Simran loses her memory (a cheap twist shown in all of crazy Kekta’s serials to prolong nonsense) and she seems to be having another one of her nervous breakdowns due to one more mard giving her copious amounts of dard.

This serial has really taken its title song seriously - Astitva ka dhamam lekhe chalte jana hai. Even though serial has become ridiculously dull, but chalte hi jana hai, phir audience rahe na rahe par chalte jana hai till end of time, tiil the next ice age, till the dinosaurs make a comeback, but Niki Aneja’s colorful sari dupattas would keep blowing in the wind as it is shown in title song.

Its high time that this serial ended and saved some of its past dignity or else it will keep getting pathetic by going the way of Kooky Kekta’s fearials.

Oh come on, why can’t we have at least one sensible, mature, logical serial that will end naturally on its expiration date and not rot itself and our minds till eternity.

Is anyone listening out there? Do I hear Kekta cackling away like an evil witch of Indian TV or do I just hear crickets chirping?
