The sky just fell on my head. Review on Asterix Series - Goscinny Uderzo

I am a huge asterix buff.my first one was pinched from a library by my uncle when he was a kid and later was give to me.i can still remember that it was asterix and the big fight.there are actually two authors to this marvellous comic.one is goscinny and the other is uderzo.from then I have been collecting book after book and now I have the entire collection stashed away in my desk.

asterix is a tiny little warrior not tiny maybe short would be better who is regarded as the bravest warrior in the village.this village is situated in a place called gaul.entire gual was occupied by the famous julius ceaser.every part of gaul except this village which still holds out against the invaders who are the romans.the romans then set up four camps around the village and every attempt made by them has been foiled by asterix and his trusty side kick and best friend obelix.the main characters in this comic are firstly asterix the bravest warrior and most intelligent one,obelix his best friend and sidekick,vitalstatistix the chieftan of the village,getafix the druid,unhygienix the fish monger,fulliautomatix the blacksmith and cacofonix the bard.oh and one more ,dogmatix a cute little dog who is obelix's pet.

the druid getafix has a unique recepe which makes a person gain superhuman strength and thus making him invincible.this potion has been used to keep the romans at bay.this recepe has been handed down from druid to druid only by word of mouth.obelix as a child had fallen into a giant cauldron of this potion and since then it has had a permanent affect on him while for the others the affect is temporary when the drink it.obelix isnt allowed to have it as it may have harmful affects on him as always sulks into coner on not getting any.the series comprises of all the adventures asterix has been on which is at different parts of the world.the writers have brought out humour in anyway possible.there is humour linked with their names to the situations they end up in.

the main chunk of the humour is brought out on how the two gauls take the roman army for a huge ride.the armies are terrified of them due to their superhuman strength gained from the potion.the drawing are all done to perfection with every scene described in great detail.the authors had come out with the rarest and the all time best which is ''asterix and cleopatra''.the comic is suitable for any person of any age and that is the big problem because I have to share it with my brother now....sheesh!

the comic is definitely addictive and will have you laughing and falling off your seat as you read it.the humour the drawings,the ideas,effort put into this comic has made it one of the must have varieties.my cousin and I had actually started a race to see who had collected all of them first and finished reading the entire collection.if you think its too childish to read pick one up im sure you will enjoy it a lot.
