Hello Dear Friends,
Myself Chaitali and today I am going to share my personal experience regarding the book called " ARTIFICIAL INTELLIGENCE: A NEW SYNTHESIS BY NILS J NILSSON ", with which I was introduced when I was in the second year of my engineering and ARTIFICIAL INTELLIGENCE was one of out subjects.
First things first, The look of the book is not so interesting, Only the name in capital bold letters and a simple picture which fails to drag attention of readers, so the first impression is very boring and less stylish and less creative. The size of the book is huge, It feels heavy almost 2 kgs. SO its difficult to carry in your bad for its heavy weight. The quality of the paper and the material used is poor quality. If you are aishwaryasingh23ing 1299 rupees for a book the quality should be good.
Now for first few chapters then book is easy and the details are good regarding the subject. But once you finish first two chapters you cant understand as the descriptions are very short and on practical examples are their. It does not have GAME THEORY, ALGEBRA THEORY, ALU UNIT, GU INTERFACE, ARTIFICIAL INTELLIGENCE and other important chapters. So you cant understand the details of the subject as you don't have ideas about the above mentioned chapters. So this book is not for beginner. First you need to study a book descriptive book where all the matters are well described with practical examples.
The GAME THEORY part is replaced with OPTIMAL MATHEMATICS, which helps us to make decision while in a GAME TREE. the traditional GAME TREE is missing. So the DECISION making process of the ARTIFICIAL INTELLIGENCE is not described vastly, All the descriptions are short and fail to express . The arithmetic and the logical unit of a computer is not mentioned. So the mathematical part is not present. No theorem for intelligence, No DATA FLOW DIAGRAMS or other CALCULUS is present. The mathematics portions are missing and the details of math are very less which makes it difficult to understand the decision making of calculus.
The theory is good to go, but no practical knowledge is their, so when you are look for coding this book is very much no for all. And if you don't have coding knowledge as a beginner then you cant understand after completing the total book, as you need to know and have the knowledge of the subject from first. The CLASSICAL WATER FALL MODEL of GAME FLOW, THE RAD MODEL OF TIC TACK TOE, DECISION MAKING OF CROSS WORD are missing. which makes it less informative. The example of games are no present. SO you cant understand the GAME TREE and the basic theory of games and how the games for for ARTIFICIAL INTELLIGENCE.
So for a beginner this book is not a very good choice, I started reading a other books, and once I was done with this subject then the understand this book as there are lots of small chapters are missing, this book is basically for experts. But the practical part is missing and this book fail to make you understand the subject. So don't ready this book if you are a beginner, Try other books like MORRIS MANO, ST ANTHONY's etc. I will give this book one out of ten for the information provided by the chapters and missing chapters are very much important so this book should contain all the missing information regarding better quality of understanding. So don't buy this book. this is not worthy.
