Archie Comics was started by John Goldwater in the early 1940’s.Mr.John always wanted to create a comic character who was different then others & whom his readers could relate to.He wanted
his character to be simple,down to earth(not those super hero type) but who can still make his place in peoples heart.Thus,after lot of thinking & searching he created “Archie Andrews & his friends” & well……the rest is history………
The basic theme of Archie Comics revolve around Archie & his friends.They live in a small town named “Riverdale”.Archie Comics also features other characters like “Josie & the Pussycats”, “Sabarina the teenage witch”, “Little Jinx” & many more.Unlike any other comic books you can buy many versions of Archie comics like “Archie Andrews Where are you”, “Jughead Jones double digest”, “Betty & Veronica double digest”,“Archie & the gang”,“Archie,story & game”………….& many many more..
The Gang:
Archie Andrews: Archie is like any other typical American teenager.He has an uncanny habit of getting in to trouble & he falls in love with every beautiful girl he sees.The best place to find Archie is in Veronica’s house or the detention room.Though,Archie Comic is more than 60yrs old Archie & his friends never seems to get old(that’s the best part)…..
Jughead Jones: He is the most weird person in the town of Riverdale & he is Archie’s best friend.Jughead loves burgers & he always feels that there is too many burgers to eat & too little time left for him.Well,you can always find him at Pop’s tates or at any other burger stall.There is one quality of Jughead which surprises many people(including me)…..he hates girls.Apart from being very calm & lazy,Jughead is the most sensible member of the Archie gang…
Betty Cooper: Betty loves Archie but Archie loves Veronica & Veronica loves money…..
Well Betty’s only objective in life is to attract Archie’s attention but fails every time she tries to.She is like any other ordinary girl who will do anything to help her friends.She is very humble,down to earth person & always ready to help others.The term “Dumb Blonde” surely does not apply to her in anyway.The best place to find her is outside Archie’s home or school library…
Veronica Lodge: Veronica is the richest girl in the town of Riverdale.Even though,she & Betty are best friends, they always compete with each other to go out with Archie(lucky chap).Unlike her best friend Betty,she is very proud & cunning.She always like to use her money power rather than her brains.The best place to find her is in some beauty parlor or shopping complex…
Reggie Mantel: Reggie is one person who never misses an opportunity to praise himself.He always competes with Archie to go out with Veronica.He always land himself into trouble while talking to his first love who is Midge(Big Moose’s girl) & always tries to put Archie down in front of Veronica & Betty.The best place to find him is in front of a mirror….There are other characters also in Archie’s gang.There is Big Moose, Midge, Chuck, Dilton, Big Ethel & many many more….
There is nothing you get to learn from Archie Comics……..but everything is not about learning & Archie Comics is just for entertainment.If you all remember than, we even had our own desi version of Archies in the film “Kutch Kutch hota hai”.Even though the film was super hit it was nothing compared to The Archies.
Archie & his pals has made us laugh & smile from the last 60yrs & they are not through yet.Because of his witty & uncanny habits, Archie has become a household name & every body loves him & his friends.
