Like every adolescent and teenager, I am a regular reader of Archie Comics, now a legendary comic book series which began in the mid-twentieth century as a comic strip in a newspaper. With well etched out and rerlatable characters, Archie Comics is everyone’s delight with clean humour, without any double entendres. So, it makes for some great light-hearted reading material on a lazy (everyday is lazy for me!) Sunday or holiday. 

THE CHARACTERS
All of the characters are ageless, staying the same age over a span of five decades. Archie Andrews is still the teenager he was in the 19450s, and Betty Cooper has had a crush on him since that time. The characters live in a fictitious town called Riverdale, a place where it is sunny in the summer but freezing in the winters.  Here is a brief summary of the characters: 

1. Archie Andrews- Typical teenager. He has a freckled face and orange hair, promting him to be called carrot top. He is a big flirt (like most guys his age) but his clumsy behaviour land him into hot water more pften than is normal. 

2. Betty Cooper- In my books, she is the leading lady of the series. A cute, blonde-haired girl who is just about perfect. She does everything right but somehow, she can never win the heart of a certain Archie Andrews.  

3. Veronica Lodge- She is the "rich bitc*" in the series, playing the daughter of the very wealthy Mr. Hiram Lodge. She is snooty and proud, but Archie is in love with her for over 40 years.  

4.Jughead Jones- He is perpetually hungry (like me) and almost always snoozing away to glory. He hates girls but somehow the lean and anorexic Ethel has fallen for this guy with the wierd hat.   

5. Dilton Doiley- He is Riverdale’s resident Einstein. Exceptionally intelligent, his luck with girls is little. He is the geeky guy in spectacles (hey, I am not geeky even though I wear glasses) who spends his time with his apparatus in the science lab! 

6. Mr. Weatherbee- He is (un)fondly known as the Bee. He is the principal; of the school the above five teenagers attend. He is often the victim of Archie’s clumsy behaviour and his portruding belly is a constant worry to him.  

7. Reggie Mantle- This guy represents the darker side of us. He is friensds with Archie & Co. but is always upto some prank or another. He is always trying to pull down his friends, and his heart is said to be darker than darkness. Hee Hee. But almost always his snide plans bear no fruitition as Jughead is too smart for him. 

There are many other characters as well like: 
Miss Grundy (Teacher) 
Mr. Flutesnoot (Professor) 
Moose Mason (big and strong guy whose IQ is real low) 
Midge ( Moose’s girlfriend and Reggie’s crush) 
Chuck Clayton (teenaged guy who is friends with Archie and Co.) 
Miss Beazly (cafetaria chef) 
Ethel (anorexic and rabbit-toothed gal in love with Jughead)  

~Varun is reading Archie comics in the night and lazily drifts to sleep midway through the comic. The next morning, Varun wakes up in the town of RIVERDALE, the town where Archie and his friends have all their fun and frolik. He is standing outside Archie’s house and is expected to go to school. Varun is dazed and startled, but what happens next? Read on to find out:~     . 

Archie: Who are you? I’ve never seen you before.
Varun: I’m kind of new in town and I will be attending the same school as you.
Archie: ohh ok. Then let me introduce you to my friends. 
Varun: No, no. I know all about your gang.
~Just then, Veronica arrives in her chauffeur-driven limousine~
Archie: Hey Ronnie! Can you give this guy (uh, he forgot to ask my name!) and me a lift to school?
Veronica: Sure.
Varun: Hi Ronnie. I am Varun and I am new in town.
Veronica: Hi. Say, you’re kind of cute. We should hang out together some time.
~Archie’s face turns into  a deep beetroot colour~ 
Varun: Sure, why not? Say, where are the others? 
Veronica: Oh, Betty is probably choosing what to wear to impress Archie. Reggie must be thinking odf some evil prank rigght now and Juggie ahs probably overslept, giving him time to eat only ONE breakfast.  
Varun: Hee Hee. Very funny. You have a sense of humour. Great! 
~Betty arrives looking like Britney Spears looked 2 years ago~ 
Betty: Hi gang! How do you like this new dress, Archie?  
~Reggie arrives with an evil grin on his face~    
Reggie: I just bought a new prank tool kit. Boy, I cannot wait to try it on someone in school. Its far out!  
~Jughead arrives and burps loudly. Ew, gross! He apoligises for being late but he said he needed atleast three breakfasts each morning and so he was late.~ 
Veronica: What did I tell you, Varun? Anyways, gang, this is Varun and he is new in town.  
~Archie asks me which girls’ phone number I have and Jughead asks me what cusine I like. Reggie asks me how many people I have conned so far~   

LATER.... 

Reggie: Finally Grundy’s lecture is over. One more minute, and I would have used my snake prank on her. 
Jughead: Whew! What a relief! Its lunch time! My stomach was growling like a tiger who is injured. Cafetaria, here I come. 
Archie: Come Ronnie, lets go to the cafetaria for a lunch shall we?  
~Betty and Varun are left in class together~ 
Betty: So, Varun. How you liking Riverdale High?
Varun: Great! Although your friends left me all alone:-( 
Betty: Awww....no worries, we can hang out together.    
Varun: Hey thanks. 

LATER........ 

~After school, the gang disperses to go their seaprate ways. Betty asks me if I need some help with homework. Just then, I wake up to find myself in my own house. I ralize it was just a dream. What could have happened in the dream if I hadn’t woken up? Would Betty and I fall for each other? Whom would Reggie use his snake prank on? Would Archie and Veronica marry?   ~
