I heard many good things from my friends and relative about Apollo hospital -Bannerghatta so took an appointment for a severe abdominal pain.Doctor adviced me to have an ultrasound scanning done immediately. With the scanning it was confirmed that the pain was only because of an obstructing calculi( stone) in the right ureter causing hydronephrosis. Also there were few more small small stones less than 3 mm size and tracing them out with absolute precision was not possible with only ultasound scanning so I was again adviced by the doctors to undergo a CT scan. With CT scan they acessed my situation as critical. The dimensions of stones this time had actually increased. Doctors asked me to be prepared for the surgical procedure and explained me the details about the cost and procedure. The overal cost as explained by the doctors to me was around 40, 000 and the procedure would be minimally invasive and I would be discharged from hospital on the very next day.I agreed immediately as I had mediclaim insurance of amount 1 lakh.I got the cashless approval very  next day and admitted in hospital with the pre authorization from insurance company. Surgical procedures were over and I was asked to settle the the bill amount of 5056 as the insurance company will not cover everything. To my surprise the actual bill amunt was 78, 678 which was too higher compared to the amount expained to me before the procedure. My problem didn't end there. In the discharge summary it was clearly mentioned that they couldn't able to remove few stones as the ureter got damaged during the laser lithotripsy procedure and to bypass the urine they put a small tubing call stent which needed to be removed a month later. I was advised to go home and was given a date by hospital to get re-admitted.They asked me for few signatures with my mediclaim details and started the procedures.Once the procedure over, during discarge I was asked to settle a bill amunt of 25, 000 as I had already exhaused the insurance amount during previous procedure. It came like a bomb on me as I was not prepared for that rather I was still believing that the second procedure was the extension of the previous one. Some how I could manage the amount borrowing from friends and got discharged with a lot of take aways. The point I would like to raise that why it was explained to me much lesser amount(40000) than the actual(126000) which is 3 fold higher and why I would pay for the imcompetency of the doctors. My sincere advice to people that please verify those small things before  making a choice.
