Anbe Sivam is a brilliant movie which can be compared to the oscar nominated biggies. May be the plot was a bit tough for the common people to understand.I am terribly disappointed that this movie was not much noticed or acclaimed.
Though I am not a fan of Kamal Hasan, have to admit that he is truly eligible for the title "Universal Actor". I would rather call him "An Actor with two brains".He has done a terrific job in this movie, but he may not even have dreamt of the poor responses which this movie had to face.
Madhavan has done justice to his role as a innocent, foolish, west-inspired man who even during drowning shouts in "english", but his performance even falls short in front of Hasan.Nasir who is a subtle actor really arouses wrath towards him through the wicked character he portrays and is 100% succesful in his role.
Kiran Rathod may have been a "flop factor" in the movie because she is/was known for glamour roles more and people may have misunderstood the movie for related reasons.She could have been replaced by some other actress.Even Simran would have fit in nicely.
The movie has just one "filmy" scene(I felt so)! and that was a stunt scene of Kamal which was not supposed to be that lengthy.Other than that, from start to finish, this movie is pure entertaining.I wonder what strategy Mr. Kamal Hasan is using for giving life to "challenging type" roles.You can experience while you see each scene. In summary, Hats off to a soft masterpiece
