Amul macho commercial has been rated as vulgar by our extra decent government! They banned two ads on thursday-lux cozy and amul macho and they were claimed indecent and suggestive, thus

found to violate the law.

Pushpinder Singh aka pushpi,is the man behind the idea of the amul macho advertisement.

The ad in question and controversies has a newly wed very Indian looking woman, who enters the dhobi ghat where she is curiously examined by the neighbouring elderly women.Ignoring their stares she opens her bundle of clothes and pulls out the first cloth to be washed-amul macho underwear belonging to her husband. Then she starts brushing it and expresses as if she is fantasizing her man in it.

The elder women surrounding her thrashes the washing bat, while this woman comes back from her fantasies and stretches the underwear in her hands, the voiceover concludes amul macho crafted for fantasies. The ad has an audio all through saying ‘yeh to bada toing hai’ .The ad ends.

If this is vulgar what about ads like liril in which a non Indian couple –the girl wearing a chameez just completing her bath performs obscene acts, hrithik roshan’s parle milano ad,axe effect ads,  etc?Are such advertisements not vulgar?

Prohibition of amul macho ad is a simple act of hypocracy. This advertisement is such which atleast cannot be deciphered by small children. But then there are ads, soaps,tv channels ( ftv), movies etc which are much more vulgar and obscene.

In my personal opinion I  deny that this advertisement very decent, but I also found it to be naughty. There lies a difference between naughty and vulgarity. The clothes worn by the woman in the ad was very Indian and is a common sight of any village. Thus,to label it with words like vulgar etc is a highly hypocratic act.And I don’t agree with the forbiddance of this particular advertisement only as it will not matter in any sense to close down just one not so vulgar commercial. Infact, they should brush up with the media closely if they are really interested in de-vulgarising the society!
