Amazon women--the traditional kind, at least--were young; so much in-shape that they’d put Olympian Gold Medalists to shame; out there in life really sweating away; and only seemed to need men for reproduction purposes.

I assume that they probably knew where the men hung out but kept their own whereabouts well-guarded.

Well, THIS Amazon Woman will be a nifty-fifty on December 12, of this year; resembles Mama Cass more than Wonder Woman; thinks about straightening up her house more than she does it; and is currently all loopy over some Indianapolis-based, studmuffin lawyer and has had a history of doing such things as letting her fried potatoes turn into charcoal when she was a high school freshman and the teacher she had the biggest crush on came into the room, causing her to go into a major staring trance!

Even so, I’m an Amazon Woman through and through!

As you might have guessed, I’m not talking about the traditional kind, anyway. I’m talking about being a big fan of Amazon.com.

I haven’t been an online-shopper (one who shops directly from the Internet) for but a few months, but I now have my own special debit-card for such purposes--along with a modest windfall from my portion of the sale of my family’s sale of Wendy’s stock--so I’ve been having a great time.

One of the places I’ve shopped most has been at Amazon.com buying various books, starting with a collection written by loved ones of Alzheimer’s patients that included one by my e-pal, Debbie Center.

I also write for a site called Stories.com, and you can read a book review by a fellow writer; think, ’’WOW! Gotta have that book!’’ and click a link that will take you right to where you can order the book.

There are a lot of ways to order, but I choose the one-click option. I’m already on file with this option. If I order other books within 90 minutes, it will make the delivery of all of them less expensive.

The information says to allow seven-to-ten days for delivery--but I find it to be much more rapid. I ordered some books the first part of the week and found them in my mail today!

I’m now engrossed in yet another book that I can hardly bear to put down!

Yes, I’m definitely an Amazon Woman!!!

Some other nice things about Amazon.com (and I’m sure that there are plenty more):

1. You generally have a choice between hardcover, softcover, new, or used.

2. You can also use the site as a place to sell books that you’ve finished reading.

3. You can find how other people feel about a particular book by reading reviews by other customers--and can, of course, write your own.

4. They will, judging from what you’ve ordered, suggest other books you might like to read.

5. They will become partners with other websites and pay them when orders are placed through a given site.
