Reflections of a great singer.

Lucky Ali first entered Indian pop with SUNOH which was quite well received by people. His next was SIFAR, though not so well received is a class album by itself. Then came kaho na pyar hai and Lucky Ali became a full circle. and now just when I thought, that lucky might not be so lucky with his new album AKS. I am proved absolutely wrong.

This album is by far his BEST ( I am a die-hard Lucky Ali fan!) and kind of album which haunts u. The album takes its own time to grow on you. Yeah, at the first listen, it might not sound so very exciting, but by a third listen, this album catches up.

In SIFAR Lucky Ali used bass and guitar to great use, and he doesn't seem to be tired of it doing it again. This is another album with full of acoustic guitars and bass. The first song on the Cd is tere mere saath, which is a very good song, supplemented by some decent lyrics, and it has been received well by the masses, thought its not the best song of the album.

The best song of the album is surely kitni haseen zindagi, with its superb lyrics and the background bass and guitar only add charm to the score; though I must say, the video isnt so good. Behti nadi, mehboob, sandesh,ek na ek din are all good songs and are pleasant to listen. The title track AKS again is a gem of a song. Slow and haunting, its a captivating song and should be liked by many.

There is another song kaisi tanhai, which is too good to hear, but is difficult to understand-mainly lucky goes over the board with his bass, thus, underplaying his vocals. Nonetheless, its a good song to hear, and if u catch the lyrics, u will admit its not a bad song too.

The only exception I found in the album I found was pyar ki duniya, which contains instances of his ek pal ka jeena, and is the only downside of the album but then 1 so-so song compared to another 9 good songs is acceptable!

Well, on the flip side, many might also feel that Lucky Ali's songs sound same always. Infact many also complain that after a time, lucky's music gets monotonous but for me in this age of ephemeral albums, this is one album to hold on for a long time! The charm of Lucky Ali's albums lies in the fact that they dont come too often, which makes many people curious on what his next album will be!!

AKS re-instates the fact that Lucky Ali is one of the finest indi-pop singers presently. In this age of all those punjabi kudis, mundas, and remixes, Lucky Ali brings about a change with his originality, something sorely missing in indi-pop. The caption reads on AKS 'looking back looking ahead', but it seems there's no looking back for Lucky now.

Go ahead and buy the album, its great!
