In our area (Bangalore), in one house they have taken Airtel broad band connection and we used to get the pamphlets and the airtel sales

persons visiting asking if we need a connection. Since I check my mails at office, I hardly need to go to net. But, my MSc project has to be completed in a week’s time and I had to use net connection more frequently. I checked mouthshut for reviews and finally thought of getting  Airtel connection. As though they heard me having plans on taking connection, one sales rep came next morning. I asked him about the details of tariff he was offering.

          

Then, He told me that there is one plan of Rs. 750/- rental with 256Kbps speed and the deal will close on Dec 27th. It was only for home use and unlimited download. 50 local pulses free for Phone usage.  Installation charge will be non-refundable Rs. 500/- and a refundable Rs.500/- as deposit.

          

What next.. I asked the rep to collect the cheque and the address proof etc.. on same day (it was Saturday). He collected documents & cheque on next day. Believe it or not, people to do the wiring – came the same day within 2 hours. They did a neat job. On Tuesday, I got the installation done. I had got suggestion to have BSNL from many. But they told it would take more than a month to get the installation done. And I got Airtel connection within 3 days though they said it might take a week. Isn’t that nice?

          

One thing is that the rep did not mention about extra VAT Charges of 12%.

Connectivity is good. I’m happy that I have bought something nice. Have heard about over billing of Airtel from many. That I need to find out. If we keep track of things, it should not be a problem I guess.

          

I will let you people know about the pros and cons after 3 months :-).

The 50 free pulses in the package has some issues. Even if you have not exhausted 50 pulses, everytime you call a landline, after 3rd minute, they charge Re. 1/- per minute. Since its somewhat tricky, people may not get to know about this and get heavy amount in the end. Better keep track of how much you spoke over phone :-).
