Hmmmm...cant say about others...i FOR SURE am plugged into the lifeline that is the net :))
Personal Internet history timeline:
VSNL GIAS Student shell access, 8Kbps National Semiconductor
internal modem
- AWESOME hardware over PATHETIC MTNL lines
VSNL Full graphical access, 33.6Kbps Hayes external modem
- AWESOME hardware again...and still the same MTNL and its problems
VSNL+Mantraonline+NIC Net, 33.6 & 56Kbps Hayes and D-Link external modem
- No perceivable difference between the Hayes and the D-link...Hayes already squeezing the max. juice out of the MTNL line and Mantraonline was ok ok...VSNL was faster...NIC Net...fastest!!
TATA Broadband+Wireless Phone
- 3 months of the worst time of my internet life...my trusty analog modems came to the rescue. How can they be in business is my question??? GLADLY AVOID THEM
IIT Delhi
- What to say...you are connected internally campus wide through fibre optic networks...and you have a direct backbone link at VSNL for 11Mbps...and an addtional 5Mbps through ERNET....hmmmmm...was i a spoilt brat...HELL YEAH!! Corporate net access is PEANUTS compared to this :)) and i have been with the best of the best to make this claim :))
Airtel DSL+Landline
- Now we are talking...and my DSL is on FIRE!!! WooooHooooo!!!
Saw their ad. and decided to give them a try...and was i in for surprises...you bet :)) from line installation to commissioning the connection...to 4 months of 24*7 use...my Linux machine is ALWAYS ON....no one comes close to them for performance or customer support!
I will be posting an Airtel appreciation page on my site http://freespirit.gen.in/ ...so everyone can look forward to pictures...line installation and everything :)) (yeah...i was so BLOWN...i stood the whole day watching them install the line and commission the connection!!!)
I am SO PLEASED with them...i am upgrading to 256Kbps unlimited :))
Internet experience POWERED by: Airtel 128Kbps Unlimited plan, Beetel DSL modem, AMD 750Mhz Duron, 256Mb ECC SDRAM, 80+80+40GB Seagate Barrucuda 7200 RPM drives, S3 Savage4 3D AGP card, Yamaha SCSI external writer, Philips 19" Professional CRT display and Slackware Linux - 2.4.31 STABLE kernel.
Good things are meant to be shared...and so i just could not keep my trap shut...FYI, two of my friends have Airtel DSLs now...and my parents and bro are in the process :) ....and best...the company i work for has also switched to Airtel on my recco. :)) (I really wanted my internet experience to be transparent at home and work :)) !! )
Yeah...EVERYONE is pleased, i am happy to report!
Stay well.
P.s: Installation of the line takes some time...cultivate patience and you WILL be rewarded...REALLY WELL!
