Lately Airtel DTH is charging a hell of money for the channels, I have a Sports/HD and one Kannada channel which early used to come for 550/ now for the same they are charging 770/. There is nothing that they have added no premium channels nothing but the have increased the charge.
I think they are trying to balance out the lose in the mobile sector via DTH.
Recently had a bad experience, when I called customer support for the increase in tariff, they asked for my account number which I gave and then they replied Sir your account is out of warranty, and started pitching for new one. Cust rep name was Diksha, instead of addressing my query she was completely on a different tangent. I asked her I want to renew my package and what are the best options, she replied please visit out website and you have all the pack details on it. I think she did not understand or was on a performance plan cause of her high AHT.
Other then go picture quality and not going off in raining days, Airtel is no good, when it comes for Customer service and value for money. There are few others and few which are in the pipeline who will be providing much cheaper DTH TV to customers in India.
