The cable market has now many players, each claiming their services to be better than others. Airtel DTH is one of them. One of my relatives had this installed in their home and all through the duration of its installation, they suffered.
The first issue with the Airtel DTH is the reception of the channels. Even when the skies are clear, quite a few channels are missing. When contacted, the customer service comes up with the usual response; there is some technical issue. If you happen to call a service guy, he will surely charge you something. In fact, their visit charges are around INR 150 per visit and the set-top box charges are around 200.
Another issue is the up-gradation of the set-top box. The company literally force you to upgrade your set-top box. If you do not do that, then be sure to find some issues with your services.
The signal strength is pretty poor, even a small cloud in front your dish will cause interruptions in the reception of the channels. The service staff behaves rudely. Even if you complain time and again, they pay no heed towards them.
My advice would be to stay away from this cable network. Switch to internet and view your favorite programs there.
