I had a choice between Air India and Delta to fly to Chicago and ignoring the advice of most people I decided on Air India – first of all as I had never traveled on it and secondly to support our national airline . Also wanted to see whether it actually is such a bad airline that is made out to be
I traveled in end of nov 2005 on the Chennai – Chicago sector and it was a great experience- The plane interior looked nice and comfy and the flight was jam packed. The attendants were nice and smiley and did a great job of taking care – great food ( much better than all the airlines I have traveled so far in – The flight was on time ( 15 mins late at Chicago due to the delay in heathrow). The ratio of crews to passengers was very good and meals were served very quickly and efficiently ( it can take ages in other airlines if the flight is full) – They gave out menu cards – and indeed served with a smile. The toilets were clean and well stocked - They gave enough alcohol to whoever wanted to drink

I would like to say to all the Air India baiters to kindly view all the airlines in the same light – just because it is Indian and govt owned, people make start making judgements –
Overall I had a great experience – much better than – BA, DELTA and KU that I have traveledso far in.

All I wish is that they should run direct flights out of Chennai as the flights can get a bit long with the changeover in BBy
